Portugal Golden Visa questions

Common decisions.

  • No. Real-estate investment was removed as a qualifying route in October 2023. Property purchases no longer grant Golden Visa eligibility.

  • Currently 5 years of legal residency. Portuguese parliament has approved amendments that may extend this to 10 years — the law isn’t in force yet. We track the legislation closely.

  • 7 days in year 1, then 14 days in each subsequent 2-year period — averaging 7 days per year. Among the lowest in any residency-by-investment program.

  • We vet each fund against regulator approval, audited financials, and track record. We don’t recommend opportunities that haven’t cleared due diligence.

Portuguese citizenship rules may change in 2026.
